Christine Cegelis attended the DuPage Young Democrats meeting last night to give a brief speech and engage in a question and answer session with the group. Her speech moved from some of the reasons she got into the race (opposition to going into Iraq and a desire to improve conditions in this country for the new generation, among others) to healthcare and her views that tax policy should reward businesses that create jobs (including small businesses). She made ample use of her small business background (her family had one, and later she independently created her own), which some politicians see as a key sector for future job creation (here’s one prominent politician’s views on small business and here’s another view from one of his supporters). Christine was well received by the Young Democrats. She came across as strong, accessible and thoughtful in her speech and later discussion with the group.
