Doug Henk, Democrat for DuPage County Board, District 6, and former Dean supporter is holding a pizza party fundraiser June 1st. I’ve gotten to know Doug through the Dean campaign locally, and more recently through our mutual involvement in running for DuPage County Board seats. While Doug is running on a number of issues critical to DuPage voters, he has identified the single issue that is at the heart of many of the problems with the way the county is run: a lack of openness. From the lack of public accounting of where money goes, to public meetings that are unintelligible to the public because they lack clear, complete descriptions of the voting topics, and lack public debate over most of the issues, the County Board runs itself as if taxpayers are not entitled to know what their government is doing. At the heart of Doug’s critique is the truism that without an open process, there can be no accountability. I share this critique with him.
Please join me in supporting Doug’s candidacy.
