Robert Schillerstrom, to my knowledge, isn’t an investment banker. That’s good. He believes the DuPage County Technology Park is a still a good investment. He’s wrong.
No buildings, but signs. No technology businesses, but plenty of dollars spent in landscaping. The park has cost nearly $23.8 million of a $34 million state grant, as well as money paid and loaned by the DuPage County Board. It is a ‘virtual’ technology park, with virtually nothing to show for the very real tens of millions of taxpayer dollars invested over the years. Taxpayers should stop paying. Robert Schillerstrom and the DuPage County Board should feel free to invest their own money in the Tech Park, if they still believe it is a good investment.
