DuPage July 4th Parades and Festivals Update

The Democrats have been out in force this weekend. I marched with Rob Freedman, Candidate for Clerk of the Circuit Court yesterday at the Darien Fourth of July parade, where the skies threatened, but ultimately did not rain on our parade. We were well received by the parade goers along with the other Democrats assembled, including the campaigns of County Board District 3 candidate Rich Moss, State Representative candidate District 82 Kim Savage and our local U.S. Congressional candidate Gloria Anderson among others. Rob also marched in a bigger crowd today at the July 4th parade in Downers Grove, with the campaigns mentioned above, where he was again warmly received by the crowd.

Last night the Naperville Democrats (including a number from Will County) staffed a beer tent at Ribfest. While rain delayed us and the crowds were steady, but not overflowing, we had a great time and raised some money for a great cause, preventing child abuse and domestic violence. Among those manning the tent were candidates Christine Cegelis for U.S. Congress, Guy Rosenthal for State Representative District 48 and Mike Kisler for Coroner (plus yours truly for DuPage County Board District 5). The beer pouring got a boost from acting Naperville Township Democratic Chair Rick Klau and others present included Tony Fuscone (Lisle Township Vice-Chair and Naperville Treasurer) and Loretta Burke, Naperville Township Precinct Captain. We also got a visit from Tony and Tina Beaird. Tina, who stepped aside for now as Chair of the Naperville Democrats, recently gave birth to two fraternal twins. She, the kids and the family are doing well - and it was great to see her!

I got back today too late for an update on today’s Wheaton parade, I hope to get a report tomorrow on it.
