The Christine Cegelis campaign has challenged Republican Henry Hyde to a series of three debates. Patrick Durante, Addison Township GOP Chairman and District Director for Hyde, responded to the challenge, saying, “Congressman Hyde’s campaign slash debate schedule will not be set by the Cegelis campaign.” That’s fair. What Durante failed to mention was that he and the Hyde campaign have suffered from poor logistics, and fear missing the debate. Durante was recently accused of DUI, but has disputed the charge and was found not guilty. What seems uncontested, however, is that Durante was unable to find his home the night in question, driving well past it. If this Hyde District Director can’t find his own home, how do you expect him to direct Henry to a debate location that Christine schedules in the district? Let’s be considerate, neither Patrick nor Henry really knows their district - they haven’t been around it much of late - what if they got lost? They can’t afford the bad press. Christine needs to be more accommodating. The public interest will just have to wait for Patrick and Henry to find their way.
