Jack Ryan has filed the paperwork. He’s history. Now the GOP can select a candidate (I hear they may as early as Tuesday), if they can find one. It will be interesting to see their pick. My recommendation, and I have no names to name, is that they go with someone that shows a glimpse of (hopefully for them) a new face/direction for the Illinois Republicans (read a moderate). If you’re going to take it on the chin, at least make a positive statement. That person isn’t Oberweis, and not only because Mr. Ice Cream makes GOP Washingtonians scream.
[Complete aside, looks like you can still donate to Jack Ryan’s campaign on his website. With all the good will towards him in Republican circles, you can bet he’ll make a mint (the hard candy, $0.05 kind). At least he’ll get a fresh start!]
