We Have A Budget

Illinois now has a budget. It will be interesting to see what the deals were that led to passage, but the Rockford Register Star is suggesting that Republicans may have gotten $280 million in road projects in their legislative districts put on a fast track among other things.

Give John Borling Credit (Card), He’s Still Interested Online

This is neither a plug for John Borling, nor a prediction, but among the many names out there for Republican GOP candidate in Illinois (including my prediction, a (re)run of Jack Ryan), Borling is the only one I’ve found updating his website. A Rockford Register Star Opinion piece for July 23 is there, along […]

Breaking News! Bush Pardons Berger For Service To His Country

Former Clinton National Security Advisor Sandy Berger was pardoned today by president Bush for any criminal activity he may have committed, taking and losing copies of top secret documents, in preparation for the 9/11 Commission hearings. Bush recently appointed Berger to assist the military with the collection and storage of all prison documents in Iraq […]

Not Debatable: Logistics Hurt Henry Hyde

The Christine Cegelis campaign has challenged Republican Henry Hyde to a series of three debates. Patrick Durante, Addison Township GOP Chairman and District Director for Hyde, responded to the challenge, saying, “Congressman Hyde’s campaign slash debate schedule will not be set by the Cegelis campaign.” That’s fair. What Durante failed to […]

Why Sandy Doesn’t Make Sense

It seems that nobody has a clue what Sandy Berger, former Clinton national security adviser, could have been up to taking notes and copies of archive materials home with him during his preparation for the 9/11 hearings. Smart people have suggested that beyond this illegal act, there is no there, there. Since he […]

Freedman Fundraiser At Debra Shore House Party

I just got back from Democrat Rob Freedman’s fundraiser at Debra Shore’s home in Evanston. Among the guests were Democratic Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley and Mike Bauer, a prominent Democratic consultant. It was a small gathering, but Rob gave a great speech that was well received and the guests were generous in […]

Jake Moving To DuPage

Having accepted my offer to move to DuPage, County Board District 5, and vote for me, Jake of JoinCross Blog is now looking for a job closer to home. It appears he may have found one blogging with Kirk Dillard. Let me know if you need a reference, Jake, you’re one of the […]

What Democrats Can Afford To Consider

Political Wire reports Democrats raised more money than Republicans this quarter. I’d love to see this advantage turned into leverage to enact better laws on public financing of elections. Money should not be a barrier to quality public servants. At the upper levels Americans of both parties vote for fundraisers who are […]

Put One Foot In Front Of The Other

I am all for forest preserve land acquisition in DuPage County. It rarely is easy and it does have additional costs in loss of tax revenue. In West Chicago the mayor and others are currently arguing that potential Forest Preserve land acquisitions near Pratt’s Wayne Woods are wrong because of the loss in […]

Shoot! Who Can He Hook Now?

Political Wire reports that President Bush could lose hunters and fishers this election. Apparently when you permit the environment to be polluted it tends to kill animals. Who knew?
