I’ve talked before about Illinois House Republican Minority Leader Tom Cross’ people being smart, and one of their recent posts brings home a crucial issue to me. I doubt many of Howard Dean’s supporters ever listened to Howard saying “You’ve Got The Power” and envisioned a Republican Revolution as a successful result of it. That’s exactly what Tom Cross’ tech team proposes. They’ve studied Joe Trippi, Dean’s strategist, and are great fans of his work. Their adaptation of Trippi brings home to me one critique of his vision. On an even playing field the authentic message should win for Democrats. I really do believe we are in our roots the people’s party (i.e. there are more of us than natural Republicans). But the playing field isn’t even. The playing field is all about communication, and the winners win not just because of their message, but because of their reach.
