DuPage AME Church in Lisle

This morning I went to the DuPage AME Church in Lisle to listen to the Pastor, Reverend Dr. James F. Miller and the guest Lt. Col. Litrot, a military chaplain and Reverend in an AME church in Washington D.C.

Having never been to an AME church, I was struck by the service. It was a great, powerful service that maintained a balance between seriousness and humor, and thoughtfulness and passion. Combined with music and song, the overall effect was to maintain a pace that really kept interest in the religious themes being discussed.

I know the church has families that it helps in its community outreach. As an elected official of the DuPage County Board I’d like to learn more about this outreach and other efforts/issues/concerns the members of the church may have that DuPage County government touches upon. Just like my experience at the Chinese school later in the day, I look forward to learning more about the different community groups that make up DuPage, how the government currently affects them, and how government can more positively effect them in the future. Working together with community groups, creating bonds of common interest and endeavor, I hope to make life in DuPage better for everyone.
