The quote came from a Yahoo! News story “Midwesterners: Economy Top U.S. Problem.” The stats are from an AP-Ipsos poll that asked the open-ended question “in your opinion, what is the most important problem facing the U.S. today?”
If the economy is “the most important problem” to the Midwest - and few politicians are talking about it - then we’ve got a real political problem.
The two major parties can view this as a problem to avoid - and encourage the cynicism of people like Fred Miller quoted above. Or, they can look at it as an opportunity to find real solutions - and engage the public on one of the most important issues that face us today.
I’ll have more on this issue soon - it’s an issue that deserves serious discussion - it’s about making it in the U.S.A.
