Just a few days shy of six months ago I published a parody piece on Tom Ridge’s retirement from the Department of Homeland Security. At the end of the piece I published a (real) screen shot of the Homeland Security website, Ready.gov, and noted it wasn’t yet “ready” for children.
This is the screen shot I published then (it was edited in a minor way to fit the screen):
If you go to the Ready.gov site now all you need to do is change the date to see the same screen. It’s another great example of the Bush Administration’s “No Child Left Behind” policies - and one they should have to explain daily until they’ve addressed the issue. It’s interesting to look at the seeming priorities listed, in order: business, “America” and then the unfinished business of protecting America’s children.
