J.P. “Rick” Carney Drops Out Of Congressional 6th Race - Endorses Peter Roskam - Carole Pankau Only One Left With Roskam, And She’s Pretty Right

[Update: I’ve been wanting to direct people to the So-Called “Austin Mayor” take on Carney for a while, now I’ve finally gotten to it. Click for what Carney said in endorsing the “ultra-conservative” Roskam. Also, Carol Pankau dropped out of the race - so Roskam’s the GOP nominee for the 6th Congressional District.]

The information came from a press release State Senator Peter Roskam’s congressional campaign put out. With only Roskam and fellow State Senator Carole Pankau (who I believe isn’t “officially” in yet) left - the choice is between two people on the hard right. However, Roskam’s lined up the money, endorsements and likely the organization to win. It’s hard to see where Pankau can present enough of a difference (plus money and organization) to make much of a fight.

Carney did provide a socially moderate difference in the campaign - but he apparently couldn’t win it. With the extremely conservative Roskam apparently the GOP candidate, there is going to be a pretty stark difference in the general election, no matter which Democrat is picked.

I appreciate your comment Ms. Allen - I updated the blog entry recently (just the evening before I got your comment actually) and mentioned that - but it appears I was too late for when you looked at the entry.

Regardless, it’s now up and for the GOP all Roskam in the 6th.

Thanks for your recent links to me at Obiter Dictum.

    Take care,
