Illinois Representative Lou Lang Attracts Gubernatorial Talk

Illinois Democratic State Representative Lou Lang is attracting gubernatorial consideration from a number of bloggers

DJWInfo (glad you’re back Dan) has this take on Lang’s prospects.

DownLeft reads into Lou Lang’s recent newspaper coverage - and the angry-at-Rod trial lawyers, teachers and gaming lobby.

CapitolFax has a wrap-up on the subject.

I briefly met Lou Lang when he was honored at the DuPage County Democrats fundraiser a couple years ago. He seems, as so many say, to be extremely likeable. He also has experience and for many is a “real Democrat.” But my guess is that the attraction with Lou, for now, is that he seems like a viable alternative to Rod Blagojevich, a governor that has disappointed many in his party. I understand the attraction, but I question in this race, at this time, the viability. I suspect Lou will wait until 2010 if he’s running for governor - or try to find another higher office to seek (it’s hard to see which one) in the meantime.
