Miles Harvey was cited in today’s Chicago Tribune on the arrest of E. Forbes Smiley III, a map dealer who is accused of stealing from Yale University’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library among other places. Harvey said security is often insufficiently funded at cultural institutions.
Miles Harvey wrote the book “The Island of Lost Maps” about prominent map thief Gilbert Joseph Bland Jr. He is son of former Downers Grove Democratic Chair “Tinker” Harvey.
