Quick Notes On Prospective Democratic Presidential Candidates In 2008

Senator Evan Bayh, Democrat, Indiana

Bayh proposes legislation requiring monthly progress reports on the Iraq War arguing they will provide “accountability and candor.” We certainly could use more accountability and candor from the Bush Administration in this, and other, areas.

Senator Russ Feingold, Democrat, Wisconsin

LiberalOasis gets an exclusive interview with Russ blogged here. Feingold says he’s gotten a good reception in other parts of the country, and that his proposal for national healthcare with state flexibility is being well received. I see a political advantage to letting states come up with their own systems, but I’d want some really rigorous minimums of care - and we might lose some of the national advantages in reducing cost through bulk purchasing and streamlining.

Former Vice President Al Gore

The state of American discourse from a person I wish had done more where he could. His discussion of American discourse is a pitch for his cable TV station, but there is merit in some of his critique. I like his recent critiques better straight up.
