Today, the Housing Illinois coalition launched the third phase of its unprecedented affordable housing advertising campaign that began in February 2005. TV ads will air in the Chicago area during the Tonight Show, David Letterman, Nightline, Sex in the City and other shows through Dec. 11/2005. You can see the spots online here.
The two spots: “We Need the People Who Need Affordable Housing” and “Affordable Housing, It’s Worth a Whole New Look” are part of a larger awareness effort to explain the value of providing housing choices. More than 300,000 working families are overburdened by rising housing costs. The ads are designed to highlight the growing need for the development of more affordably priced homes and reach “undecided” viewers to encourage their active support.
It’s a serious issue - and you can read about a recent Chicago Metropolis 2020 report on housing in the region here.
