Sunday’s Naperville Sun points out that School District 204 has a new website for the proposed third high school. It includes links discussing enrollment, capacity, space options for the students, Superintendent Howard Crouse’s view on mega high schools and upcoming school board meeting dates (”Events”).
Just because an organization communicates well with stakeholders doesn’t make it right about the issues - but it does permit better understanding, involvement and discussion. Say what you will about the proposed third high school, District 204 has done an exceptional job trying to communicate with parents, taxpayers and other stakeholders.
According to today’s Daily Herald District 204 is currently seeking an estimate of what a third high school might cost. They are again using a similar school model (Neuqua Valley High School-size) of about a 450,000 square foot building holding 3,000 students, as they did in the failing referendum last year. The estimated the cost last year was about $90 million. In an issue that some saw as a deal maker/breaker for the referendum last time, discussions of district boundaries, Superintendent Crouse suggested, will not likely take place until January.
