MWRD Candidate Debra Shore Makes First Democracy For America Endorsement List Of 2006

Debra Shore alerted me to the good news that Democracy for America (DFA) endorsed her campaign for Commissioner of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) today. Debra’s a tremendously qualified candidate that deserves the endorsement - and on a personal note it made my day.

Debra expressed “immense gratitude” about the endorsement and wrote that she hopes to prevail in the March primary, which occurs “about three years after I attended my very first [DFA] Meetup in Evanston in March 2003.” She went on to say, “It won’t be easy, but we can win - and become an inspiration to hundreds and thousands of others. We can transform our party and our polity. We the people.”

Jim Dean, chair of Democracy for America said Debra and the other five endorsed candidates “truly encompass the spirit of the grassroots and have put the principles of Democracy for America into action. They are fighting to take our country back by running for office.”

Debra has the most petition signatures in the race (20,194) and she beat the slated candidates by more than 4,000 signatures. Among other impressive statistics, Debra had over 274 people collect signatures for her candidacy, and over 800 people have donated to her campaign. She also recently received the IVI-IPO (Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization) endorsement in a unanimous vote. Debra is working hard and smart to reach out to voters in Cook County. I think voters will recognize Debra Shore’s qualifications and efforts in March, and they will vote for her “because water matters” - which is why having someone of Debra’s caliber on the MWRD matters too!
