I’m not sure I entirely agree with it but Dan Conley does have an interesting take on the McCain-Obama spat. My question is should Obama shed his common good/uniter image for something this trivial? It might be Obama has more to lose by “raising the ante” than to gain - making McCain look like an opportunistic partisan hack in a polite way may have been Obama’s best option. That said, much of Dan’s analysis is worth thinking about - particularly the effect of Democratic pandering boosting McCain’s credentials to the detriment of Democrats.
