Feingold Shows How The Patriot Act Reauthorization Falls Short - Call Illinois Senators

[Cross-posted at Feingold for Illinois]

Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold lists why the Patriot Act agreement with the White House fails to protect our freedoms. Illinois Senator Dick Durbin has largely signed on to this revised, but insufficient, Patriot Act deal.

Call Senator Dick Durbin and Senator Barack Obama and tell them to reject this deal. Say that we want a deal that

- Protects people with no link to suspected terrorists from the government obtaining their library, medical and other sensitive business records.

- Provides for meaningful judicial review of the gag orders in Section 215 business records orders and National Security Letters.

- Informs Americans of government agent secret “sneak and peek” searches of their homes within seven days as courts and the Senate bill have both said they should.

Call or Fax Senator Dick Durbin - ask him to change his mind on this bad deal!
