<description>The Truman Dinner was a wonderful event, exceptionally well attended (around 30 tables, 10/table) next year the Kane County Dems plan to move to a venue with larger capacity to handle the expected turnout. Always a good sign of a viable, well run local organization, IMO.

I was 'flying solo' for the evening and had the chance to mingle around the room with several of the candidates, local supporters, and others who came out to the Roundhouse Sunday night.

Mark Guethle (KCD Chairman) was honored with the Truman Award, with some well run 'covert ops' to keep that news from him prior to the event. It is a well deserved and earned honor for all his leadership abilities building the grassroot base and being 'in the trenches' everyday.

Great turnouts from the area Unions and their membership.

The current slate of candidates running for office was well represented.

John Laesch also had it on his schedule and was in the house all evening, along with a large turnout from his supporters and campaign organization.

Among the local candidates were Frank Craig, Hollie Kissane, Pat Perez, Annie Collins, and Linda Holmes.

Also the Mayor of Aurora, Tom Weisner.

Linda Chapa LaVia, Pat Quinn, Dan Hynes gave well received speaches to in honor to both Mark Guethle and the KCD organization.

Quinn even went so far as to cut short his trip to Japan by one day to attend.

All the KCD slate of candidates in attendance gave well received presentations after dinner to wrapup the evening's festivities. Looks to be a deep blue year on the local election scenes.

Kane county, along with Kendall and DeKalb, are on the move and growing. Worth keeping an eye on those races and the groundgames at the grassroots levels.

Best regards
