First Jack Abramoff tried to “mortgage” Native Americans - then, with no takers, he discussed “mortgaging old black people” with Ralph Reed - a shameless act of insuring African-American elderly church goers and collecting life insurance payoffs from their deaths, funneling the money through a non-profit and then using it to enrich themselves. Ralph’s response? “[Y]es, it looks interesting…whatever we should do next, let me know.” Despite my incredibly low regard for Abramoff and Reed - they keep on surprising me and lowering my estimation of them as human beings.
