Today’s Suburban Life covered Democratic Candidate for House District 82 Kim Savage’s recent endorsement by the AFL-CIO. They also did a nice job covering some of Kim’s positions, quoting her saying,
“The people I have talked to in my district are concerned about workplace safety, living wages and health insurance benefits…. I plan to advocate for solutions that will improve the quality of life in Illinois. Higher wages translate into more discretionary spending, which is good for the state’s economy.”
The article also points out the increasing competitiveness of Democrats in DuPage:
“DuPage now has 97,227 registered Democrats to 226,445 registered Republicans, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections, giving DuPage the second-highest percentage of registered Democrats in the state, behind only Cook County.
Though they still don’t hold any countywide offices in DuPage, Democrats have been steadily gaining ground in all collar counties in the Chicago area over the past two decades because of changing demographics, especially from an influx of minorities attracted to suburban schools. Minorities historically have favored Democratic candidates. “
Kim has been connecting with local residents through monthly “Chat’s with Kim,” every third Tuesday of the month, dealing with major issues like transportation in District 82. She’s also been meeting people at house parties and has an upcoming fundraiser ($35 suggested donation) on Sunday, August 27 at 6 PM at Two Rivers Event Center, 10997 Archer Avenue, Lemont, Illinois. RSVP immediately at kim@kimsavage.org or 630-738-0078 to see if she can still get you in.
Congratulations on the endorsement Kim!
