DuPage Republican: “The Power To Change The Way Government Works For You Is To Start Locally”

Clean water that will not poison your family isn’t a Republican issue. It isn’t a Democratic issue. It’s not even a politically independent issue. It’s a health issue - one that knows no party. Getting results on issues that matter to all of us - responsive government - is what Liz Chaplin cares about, and Liz’s record shows it. That’s why Republicans like outgoing DuPage County Board District 2 member Irene Stone have crossed the political aisle to support Democrat Liz Chaplin’s run for the board seat. It’s why Democrats and independents support Liz too. You vote for the candidate who gets the job done and does it right.

This letter (reproduced in full below) was recently sent to Liberty Suburban newspapers:

Dear Friends:

Liz Chaplin is a friend of mine. Even though we live in close proximity, I am not in District 2 and therefore cannot vote for her. I worked with Liz on our water contamination problem. She is a person of great strength and character who CANNOT be BOUGHT and will work hard to find solutions that make sense for our local government. She is a person who makes decisions based on what is the best solution for our community given all the facts and alternatives.

I recently saw the blasting she took from the local Mayors of our surrounding communities in the Reporter newspaper. Let me tell you, this will not detour Liz from her efforts. She is used to this kind of treatment from this group of “good o’l boys.” Back in 2001, when Liz was informed that she and her family couldn’t bathe in their water. She went to our esteemed Mayor and the Village, in which, she was unceremoniously dismissed as just a housewife with nothing else to do. Since we don’t live in the Village proper, and therefore cannot vote for the current Mayor, her opinions and worries didn’t seem to matter at that time.

Liz got together with other neighbors and canvassed the area together in a grass roots effort to solve the problem of contaminated water and that goal was successfully achieved in 2003.

It was during this process that many realized there was no varying point of view on the board and a fresh voice representing many unheard voices was needed.

If you would like your voice heard or a change from the status quo, Liz Chaplin will make a difference for you!
Remember the power to change the way government works for you is to start locally, the choice is always yours!

Sincerely,
Beth A. Warnecke
