Pradel And Krause Endorsed By Daily Herald In Naperville Mayoral Primary

Last Sunday the Daily Herald endorsed incumbent Mayor George Pradel and challenger Councilman Doug Krause in the Naperville Mayoral Primary over Councilman Mary Ellingson, arguing that Krause represents a “different…approach to governing” and a “distinct choice” for mayor. The editorial contrasts George Pradel’s “facilitator and mediator” approach to governing and his “cheerleader” approach to the mayor’s office with Doug Krause’s charge that Pradel is pro-development and does not effectively “direct the city council to action” in a timely manner.

The Daily Herald also argues, I think rightly, that having a primary instead of just a general election among three candidates is a waste of money and serves no useful policy goals. But for now the voters must make their choice - and the Daily Herald has made its choice.

So where is the link to the Herald endorsement? The link on your site is merely to the Herald main page. I’d like to see that piece.

    Hi isouku,

Thank you for writing and for your interest!

I’m always a bit torn when it comes to linking to local newspaper stories because most of the time the link is not permanent and may not work in a week (and then people rightly complain about “dead” links). One exception to this is the national newspaper, the New York Times, which has a permanent link procedure for many of its stories.

All that said, here is the link for the Daily Herald endorsements of Pradel and Krause
