One person I know in the 42nd Ward has received at least 26 direct mail pieces (mostly the full-color 8×10″ postcard types) that are running 16 pro-Brendan Reilly pieces to 10 Burton Natarus in the current stack from the last few weeks. Both Forrest Claypool (for Reilly) and Mayor Richard M. (and wife Maggie) Daley (for Natarus) have weighed in on the 42nd Ward Alderman campaign paid cards along with SEIU paying for three of the pro-Reilly 16.
At this rate they might exceed (or might have already exceeded) the per-person expense of the 2004 U.S. Senate campaign’s Democratic primary - and that isn’t saying nothing either given how much Blair Hull was spending along with Barack Obama and Dan Hynes.
