Naperville Primary Landslide For Pradel; Krause Squeaks By Ellingson; Live Coverage By NCTV-17

Incumbent Naperville Mayor George Pradel had a lot to smile about tonight - he captured 70% of the primary vote for mayor, beating the combined vote of his two challengers by more than two to one. City Councilman Doug Krause maintained a small lead to hold second place in the count from about 9 PM onward, eventually squeaking by City Councilman Mary Ellingson by just 189 votes (1.6%) out of 11,414. Ellingson conceded the race tonight setting the stage for a general election between George Pradel and Doug Krause.

I was on Naperville Community Television 17 tonight with host Liz Spencer and commentator Judy Brodhead, President of the League of Women Voters, doing political analysis of the Naperville mayoral race. It was my first time on TV - and the station’s first time covering an election live. Liz Spencer and the entire crew deserve a lot of credit for their hard work - they did a great job! It looks like I’ll be covering the general election as well - I’ll keep you posted. It’s been a long night - time to catch some sleep.
