Today’s Beacon News reports that North Aurora Dairy Owner and frequent GOP candidate Jim Oberweis plans to set up an exploratory committee for the 14th congressional seat in anticipation of Congressman Dennis Hastert retiring. Oberweis said he would form the committee in the next couple of weeks - and will run only if Hastert does not.
Money quotes:
“‘I would do everything I can to carry on Denny’s legacy,’ Oberweis said this week at a Kendall County Republican Party meeting.”
And
“Oberweis listed ‘controlling expenditures, making sure our dollars are spent wisely and rooting out corruption’ among his legislative priorities.”
That about summarizes it, doesn’t it [irony warning for the irony impaired].

Just what we need. Carrying on the “legacy” of Denny. Don’t forget we’ve also got Roskam carrying on the “legacy” of Hyde. What decade is this anyway?
