Not sure why you posted this but as a democrat I want us to look good and post what we understand and believe. I assume that you are approaching the issue with BP with the whole issue in mind.
Here are some facts I have “filtered” out from all the yadayadayad of the papers and protests…no water treatement plant including BP’s “dumps sludge” into the lake. BP does not do this. If you look at BP’s levels of ammonia and TSS and compare them to cities on the Great Lakes you will see no comparison….BP to me seems more like an environmental steward. Where do you think the city of Chicago puts their treated water??? Into the Chicago River…where it goes down into the Mississippi. What do you think happens sometimes when the sanitary system can’t keep up in Chicago?? Raw Sewage oozes and overflows into the river…raw sewage…you know the stuff that goes down the toilet.
I love the environment. I am not a fan of any oil company, but I don’t pass judgement so fast… take my advice when everybody and their brother jumps on a bandwagon so fast especially politicians and the media, and now rock groups, read the details and get the facts. Don’t be a stooge. Because if you search on the Chicago reclamation department you will find they are not such angels yet their presidnet uses the term sludge…ask yourself, how can the president of a reclamation plant which does what BP’s water plant does call something sludge when he knows it is not?? I would be worried.
Dick don’t be a stooge. As consumers we should voice our opinions not be given opinions by the media and others….
I am totally disheartened by our so called leaders. People that I hoped would get the facts and then make educated decisions for the good of the nation overall. Keep your eyes and mind aware and I think you will feel used as well…even if you are the one yelling at big oil.
Also, what hope can our nation have when we have laws and then our leaders say oh sorry we know you followed the law but too bad. Oh sorry Mr. Durbin, I know you were driving 54 mph but we decided that driving a car is bad for the environment so any car driving is a violation…we are fining you.
Also before you people, educate yourself. Atleast look stuff up in Wikepedia. What next.
