President George W. Bush’s rhetoric may be among the worst ever for a president, but that’s not stopping Bush’s speech writers fighting over the legacy (the original (subscription) is harsh - one of my favorites “no man I have ever encountered was truer to the saying that, in Washington, one should never take friendship personally” - ouch!). It’s hard to imagine fighting over the president’s words, instead, say, of fighting to get some out coherently - but it’s true. Strange world. Next we’ll hear about military generals fighting to claim the legacy of the Iraq War….
