Yinn has the scoop. I tried to find out about Vern, who was the Democratic nominee in the 14th in 2000, with limited success. What I do know doesn’t suggest a very serious run - very little money raised in 2000 against Hastert, only got 25% of the vote, and as far as I can tell Deljonson has little in his background that suggests a strong candidate. Vern would also be entering late in the game - another disadvantage. From my brief attempts I found that he doesn’t seem to know all of the Democratic officials in Aurora, where he apparently lives, suggesting limited political roots in the district. If Vern Deljonson is in the 14th Congressional race he has his work cut out for him.
