Republicans Record Setting Obstruction Of Congressional Legislation

The Republicans in congress have been on a record setting pace filibustering legislation - preventing the majority in congress from passing laws the people demanded and voted for in 2006. Kevin Drum points out the most recent “GOP Obstructionism,”

On the habeas bill, Democrats and Independents voted 50-1 in favor. Republicans voted 42-8 against. On the DC [voting congressional member] bill, Democrats and Independents voted 49-1 in favor. Republicans voted 41-8 against. Would it really be so hard for reporters to make it clear exactly who’s responsible for blocking these bills?”

It wasn’t long ago that Congressional Republicans were all about the importance of “an up or down vote” - now they’re setting records preventing an “up or down vote.” As Perrspectives noted in July, GOP congressional actions represent the “death” of that Republican “talking point.”
