GOP 14th Congressional Chris Lauzen Raises $210,000 And Makes Democrat Bill Foster Look Good

[Hat tip Rich]

Real Clear Politics reports that State Senator Chris Lauzen has raised $210,000 in the third quarter from 265 donors for an average donation of almost $800. Lauzen will also loan his campaign $325,000. While the reported cash on hand of over $525,000 isn’t too shabby, Lauzen is going up against Jim Oberweis, who has pledged to spend as much as $2.5 million of his own fortune on the primary race - five times Lauzen’s haul. Lauzen also faces Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns, a professional fundraiser, in the Republican primary.

On the Democratic side Bill Foster has reported raising roughly as much as the more established Chris Lauzen in the quarter (over $209,000), but did so from at least 680 contributors. Foster’s average donation of just over $300 dollars gives Bill’s donors a lot more room for additional donations - and his donor base is approaching three times Chris Lauzen’s. In fact, in just the final six days of the quarter Foster had over 200 contributors - close to Lauzen’s overall contributor number 265. Foster, a successful businessman and scientist, has pledged to spend as much as $1 million of his money in the primary and another million in the general election. Bill Foster’s Democratic primary challengers, John Laesch and Jotham Stein have not yet reported their third quarter numbers.
