I spoke with Geneva Democrat Joe Serra on Friday and he confirmed that he has entered the 14th Congressional race - something Joe’s been hinting at doing for a little while. Joe is a likable guy who considers himself to be a moderate to conservative Democrat and tried to run for the seat last cycle. Like his late entry last cycle, Joe’s going to have to ramp up fast, but I suspect this time he’s tried to prepare under the radar until just recently. That said, it’s going to be a tough race, and Serra is the third Democratic candidate (and fourth if you include Republicans) haling from Geneva, making him compete hard for votes in his home town.
Joe Serra joins fellow Geneva Democrats Bill Foster and Jotham Stein with 2006 Democratic nominee John Laesch of Yorkville and 2000 nominee Vern DelJonson of DeKalb in the 14th District Democratic Primary race.
