The Federal Election Commission requires that campaign donations exceeding $200 be itemized. When you look at a candidate’s unitemized contribution totals, you’re seeing small donors (i.e. under $200 in total donations per individual). In the 14th District congressional race Democrat Bill Foster leads both all the Democrats together - and all the Republicans together - in his small donor totals [for the third quarter].
Democrats
Bill Foster: $38,710.98
John Laesch: $19,254.87
Jotham Stein: $11,837.27
Republicans
Kevin Burns: $9,638.50
Chris Lauzen: $5,395.00
Jim Oberweis: $2,200.00
The Foster campaign reported 680 contributors in the third quarter filing period with an average donation of just over $300.
