TPM has a Strategic Vision poll showing Republican Mike Huckabee “surging” in Iowa at 12% for third place (margin of error +/- 4 points). With U.S. Senator Sam Brownback bowing out of the Republican primary, Huckabee is well-positioned to climb at least a few more points if Brownback supporters go to Mike, a logical socially conservative alternative. While Brownback’s fundraising was poor - if Huckabee can claim the religious right mantle, perhaps more social conservatives, desperate for a champion, will give him a second look.
