96th House Race Senger Comes Out Swinging - Wisniewski Withdraws, Bowler Under Attack

[Update: I have added the campaign website link to Mike Wisniewski’s name below (just found it) and have found there the following explanation of his withdrawal:

“Being a single working father with two high-school aged sons living with him presents quite a challenge to running an effective campaign in a contested primary race. That coupled with the fact I have two family relatives with severe medical issues has caused me to withdraw from the Illinois 96th house race effective Monday November 12, 2007 at 1:00pm.”

I have just received an email from someone purporting to be Mike that seemingly disagrees with the version of events below. I have sent an email to an address I know to be Mike’s asking for confirmation of this email - I’ll let you know if and when I have something more to say about this.]

The Republican primary for retiring 96th State House member Joe Dunn’s seat is getting smaller. According to the Naperville Sun, on Tuesday Will County Board member Mike Wisniewski withdrew from the race when his 300 petition signatures were challenged by Naperville City Councilwoman Darlene Senger’s campaign (he needed 500 signatures minimum). The remaining contender, commercial insurance broker Michael Bowler also has his petitions challenged by the Senger campaign (or at least formally by the same person as the one the Senger campaign used to eliminate Wisniewski).

Darlene Senger’s campaign manager Kevin White [Lynch]* said “that many of the signatures Wisniewski did present were defective and duplicative. ‘It’s pretty scary what (Wisniewski) tried to pass off as petition sheets.’” Wisniewski has served on the Will County Board since 2002.

The winner of the GOP primary (if there is a primary contest) will face Naperville educator and businesswoman Dianne McGuire, a Democrat, in the general election. I expect to have a profile of Dianne, who I’ve gotten to know pretty well over the last year, up soon. This is a race to watch.

Notes:

* I’ve met Kevin and totally apologize for butchering his last name (I know a “Kevin White” - which is probably the source of the typo) - sorry Kevin!

    Dear readers-

My question to Mr. Lynch is why he and other smart people like him waste their time with the G.O.P ? The party is over run by the likes of “HONEST ” GEORGE RYAN and the DL scandals, SEN. LARRY CRAIG and his bathroom encounters, and the continued ruins by MR. BUSH? Not to mention the fact that the Democrats are forcast to increase the majority even better in 08 and continue growth here in DuPage County?

Our party is in the majority due to the conservative wing and good people such as Sen Ben Nelson, Sen. Webb, Congressman Dan Lipinski, Congressman Supak, Joe Lieberman, and other like thinkers for example.

As educated persons, I ask you to visit our web pages below and see for yourself if the Young Republicans or Lady Republicans match up to where you and the voters and country wants?? Ask yourself, CAN I AND SHOULD I DO BETTER AS AN AMERICAN AND THEN MAKE THAT CHANGE! WE WELCOME YOU!

Do not vote for Dianne McGuire. She was the person behind PURE during the last school board election in District 203. She tried to make PURE look like a citizens group when in fact it was a teachers union backed hack job. She is not trustworthy. Vote against Dianne.
