Happy Birthday Jotham

Today’s Jotham Stein’s birthday - happy birthday Jotham!

Lipinski “Un-Endorsed” By Gutierrez - Late Benefit To Pera?

Illinois Fourth District Democratic Congressman Luis Gutierrez reportedly withdrew his endorsement of neighboring incumbent Democratic Congressman Dan Lipinski (District 3) today. Lipinski, son of a long-time congressman of the same name, has received criticism for favoring President Bush’s agenda at the expense of 3rd District Democrats. Dan Lipinski also has supported discriminatory anti-immigrant […]

Rudy Giuliani Out - Campaign Lacked Directory Assistance

Despite a near constant cry of “411,” GOP Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani’s ‘get tough’ presidential campaign lacked direction. Some think Republican voters couldn’t get past his accent. Giuliani withdrew from the presidential race yesterday.

DuPage Democrats Straw Poll Tuesday Night

It was a good crowd! My kids (with no guidance from their parents) chose Hillary Clinton (my daughter’s choice, a deliberate one (she mentioned female solidarity), did affect my younger son’s choice - at one point I thought he might (somewhat randomly) select Dennis Kucinich).

NYT Bush Republican Fantasy Land - The Economy

Having established its GOP pandering credentials with a terrible Op-Ed writer, today the New York Times talks about the ‘Bush economic miracle’ which (not so miraculously) most of us missed.
I had thought to write my own bit about this travesty - but Dean Baker beat me to it and did a better job than I […]

Ketchup…ketchup…

I’m one of Matt’s readers that missed the “the definitive article on ketchup” - but now I’ve read it I have to say “wow” - it really is worth reading.
Some thoughts:
- As a former Undergraduate Adviser once charged with ’selling poli sci’ to prospective majors, I have to point out that “[t]he world’s leading expert […]

IL-14 John Laesch’s Fundraising Improves - But Not Enough To Compete With Bill Foster

Plainfield Rob caught the numbers before I saw them on this one. As he points out compared to John Laesch’s last quarter there’s improvement in John’s $67,000 for the quarter (Laesch raised $22,000 more among other things) - but I can’t see how that will be enough. Beating Jotham Stein’s declining fundraising in […]

In IL-14 Jotham Stein’s Quarterly Fundraising Totals Fall

Last quarter Democrat Jotham Stein raised $61,555.23 in total contributions (including donating almost $2,500 to himself). This quarter he raised $45,314.02 in total contributions (including a bit over $3,000 he donated himself) and lent his campaign an additional $26,740.11. Jotham has loaned his campaign a total of $60,470.13 since its inception - […]

Lauzen Vs. Oberweis In IL-14 GOP Primary Match - Cartoonish As WWF?

WWF Match up:
State Senator Chris “CPA” Lauzen, CPA
Vs.
Businessman Jim “Milk Man” Oberweis
Chris Lauzen [shouting to ref]: “The Oberweis-[Bill] Pascoe tandem loaded up a quiver full of poison-tipped arrows and has been firing them right at me.”
[Lauzen campaign manager Kevin Reger, ring side, yells for Chris to “duck.” The […]

A Campaign Line For Barack Obama On Family And Experience

Barack Obama has used pieces of this - but I don’t think I’ve heard him put them together:
“I think family is important and experience matters. But serving the public is about more than family and experience. My cousin Dick Cheney has more experience than most people in Washington - but that doesn’t make […]
