The Beacon News reports that Republican Chris Lauzen hasn’t endorsed Jim Oberweis, the GOP nominee in the 14th Congressional District race against Democrat Bill Foster. Based on Lauzen’s post-election defeat fundraising letter, that is the least of Oberweis’ worries. Lauzen isn’t just asking for money - he’s still trashing Jim Oberweis for a dirty campaign, saying he’s “destructive,” lying, and unethical. Ouch! Jim Oberweis’ best bet at this point isn’t Chris Lauzen’s endorsement - it’s that Lauzen stops sending fundraising letters to district residents.

in the “Rick Lawrence kicks ass and is a good christian” blog, aka the “Open Line Blog”, there’s blather re Lauzen running for mayor of Aurora-by-the-Sea..but i still don’t see how the rethugs can hang him out to dry then expect him to have anything to do in ANY politics after the drubbing he took at the hands of Fat Boy II.
Too bad Lauzen is the way he is..wouldn’t you like to see him jump ship and bring in his peoples in Aurora for Foster? or is that a nightmarish idea?
Speaking of party division H..what is going on with the Dem recount? Is there a recount?

Thanks for the comment!
It would be interesting to see Lauzen run for mayor - but given his last attempts at office I wonder if it wouldn’t in some ways be a step down. He’s also still in debt as I mention above - so that alone might be a big consideration in a near-term run.
Can’t imagine Lauzen trying to support Foster - you’d have to think it would completely alienate his base and destroy whatever future Lauzen sees for himself. The closest he could come is to tell everyone to stay home - but even that would be a real dangerous reach (heck, not endorsing Jim Oberweis and sending out fundraising letters trashing him is more than most politicians would ever seriously consider (much less do) in this situation).
I’ll try to cover the recount tomorrow - last I heard John Laesch may have actually lost a bit of ground in at least one part of the recount.
Take care.
