Bill Foster isn’t a rocket scientist - but he’s close. Bill is a FermiLab physicist who was so fed up with George Bush and his allies in Congress that he decided to do something about it. He decided to run for public office for the seat that Dennis Hastert vacated. The pundits all laughed.

Last week, they stopped laughing.

Bill is tied in a recent poll against perennial candidate and three-time loser Jim Oberweis in the special election scheduled for Saturday, March 8th.

This race is a bellwether for Democratic prospects in November as we compete to pick up a district once firmly held — until just over a year ago - by the Republican Speaker of the House. If we can win this seat, it paves the way for dozens more pick-ups this fall!

That’s why it is so important that Democrats in Illinois and throughout the country support Bill in this very, very tight race.

Right now, close to ten million American kids don’t have health care simply because their parents can’t afford it. When Democrats tried to do something about this crisis, President Bush vetoed our bipartisan effort to provide more American kids with health care.

As hard as it is to believe, Bill’s opponent agrees with Bush on limiting children’s health insurance coverage. In fact, Mr. Oberweis agrees with Bush on Iraq and the whole sorry agenda which has dragged our nation down to this point.

We need twelve more votes in Congress to right this wrong.
