Here’s a report from a Bill Foster volunteer I helped steer to the campaign - a great guy helping a great candidate:

“I’ve spent my weekends volunteering in one of Bill’s campaign offices and I’m impressed with the ground game. Bill and his staff knew from Day One that the special election would hinge on turnout…. Remember, Republicants are good at winning elections when people don’t vote. Well, they didn’t count on running against a Democrat with money and hustle.

The campaign had volunteers (and a few hired hands) in the precincts collecting the names of voters pulling Democratic ballots during the February 5th primary. We’ve been digging through that gold mine for a month now making calls, finding more volunteers, and banging on doors. The campaign office is staffed with people who know how to run campaigns. I showed up last Saturday to canvass and the coordinator was late. The other volunteers and I forgave him when I learned that he was organizing 50 painters union members for a canvass in North Aurora.

Victory on March 8th is not a sure thing. Remember, …[w]e have the wind at our back because of a great candidate with a winning platform (remember getting out of Iraq?), organization, money, and Obama Himself (he’s cut an ad…). And best of all he has a hapless opponent who employed illegal aliens in his ice cream shops ten years ago [I think he means “two” years ago] and managed to violate federal election laws during this campaign cycle. You’d think that four failed campaigns would teach him something. Well, he is a Republicant so I suppose not…. Pass a few bucks on to Bill at Foster08.com so that we can win in March and end the Era of Darkness….”
