I'm impressed with Mr. Harper. As far as I know he is the first Congressional Candidate in IL 13 to get endorsed by Senator Durbin and Congressman Shakowsky. Senator Durbin's office carefully vetts (sp?) candidates and their campain's viability BEFORE endorsing.

I do not believe Ms Biggert is a moderate EXCEPT on the issues of choice, and sexual orientation. Otherwise she has voted for faith based funding, tax breaks for the wealthies, sides with the insurance companies and sincerely believes we belong in Iraq. She also believes that overall "No Child Left Behind was good legislation.

It is time for a change. If you want to chnge the legislation you need to change the legislator.

Please contribute positively to Mr Harper's campaign, through funds, writing and/or volunteering for the campaign.

.........LETS GIVE HIM A FAIR CHANCE. IT'S IS HARD TO RAISE MONEY AND STUFF. I WANT TO ADDRESS ANOTHER ISSUE, BUSH'S DAUGTHER AT THE BOOK STORE TONIGHT PANNING OFF HER BOOK? WHY ISN'T SHE AT THE FRONT AS THE REST OF THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN FIGHTING??

AT THE START OF WORLD WAR I FOR EXAMPLE , THEODORE ROOSEVELT MADE SURE THAT HIS SONS WERE NOT ONLY INVOLVED, BUT AT THE FRONT. FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT HAD HIS SON ( JAMES) IN UNIFORM ALSO.

THEIR OPINION ON THIS WAS THIS: "IF YOUR GOING TO BE HE LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD COUNTRY, ONE HAD TO PUT WORDS INTO ACTION. A PERSON ( PRESIDENT ) WILL LOOK LESS CREDIBLE IF HE DON'T. THIS A FAMILY HABIT OF OURS!"

I AGREE WITH THIS. ONCE AGAIN. INSTEAD OF PUTTING ON TEARS AND THE SAME "FEEL FOR YOUR LOSS " SPEECH, PUT WORDS INTO ACTION MR. BUSH!!

I'm not too impressed.

(1) I just got a robocall from his people. I don't like robocalls, but understand the difficulty in getting a newcomer's name out there. This one was pretty poorly done though.

(2) The website is pretty amateurish. Surely he can find someone good at writing to fix up the text.

(3) Most of all, I strongly dislike that, at this moment, when the timing for democrats couldn't possibly be better, he is running as an "independent voice" and playing down party affiliation. I wonder if this is why I don't see an endorsement from Obama on his page?

I'm more interested in getting a loud and proud democrat in, even if they are moderate, than someone who just wants to run against corporatist Biggert. Please don't tell me that one needs to be coy to win in a GOP-leaning district. We've seen that notion trashed many times across the country over the last 4 years. People want someone who makes a stand, not a calculation.

Hi Robert and Audie,

Thank you for your thoughts!

I'm pleasantly surprised by how well Scott Harper seems to be doing. I think Judy Biggert has much more of a fight on her hands than anyone would have expected - and no doubt some of that is attributable to the "Obama wave."

I sure hope that Harper proves to be more accessible to his constituents. His campaign has a long way to go, but I expect him to be riding the Obama wave to the U.S. House!

Dear readers-

In fairness, at least Congresswoman Biggert replys to letters and e-mails. I sent Harper an e-mail in regards to what is going on with the war on terror. He didn't reply. ( Not that I expect him to.)

I will go with Judy Biggert for Congress due to experience and being a moderate, not a "rubber stamp!"
