Chuck Baldwin Defeats Alan Keyes 74-24% For Constitution Party Presidential Nomination

[OneMan provides a correction - it was the local GOP Party’s elephant, not Alan Keyes’ elephant.]

John Nichols reports about it here.

What I remember most of Alan Keyes’ 2004 GOP Senate bid against Barack Obama was that Keyes came to Naperville with a giant elephant float. The float got stuck within the first quarter mile of the parade in an underpass. It was a perfect metaphor.

    Sorry to kill the metaphor.

But Keyes was two groups behind the elephant float (I was with it, we were marching as a county party) there was a martial arts school and one other group behind us. He wasn’t with our group.

Also when the elephant got stuck (I had to ride the float then since my weight helped compact the springs) is the same time the rain came so we were under an underpass getting it free and staying dry while it rained all around us in a brief shower.

Proving yet again that God blesses the DuPage Republicans :-)

    Hi OneMan,

    Thanks for the correction!

I still like the metaphor - even if I can’t link it just to Keyes. The rain was a small price to pay for the image.

    :)
