Whiskey Fire has it right. While the prediction business has suffered from an incredibly unpredictable year (the governor literally putting a U.S. Senate seat for sale, John McCain the GOP presidential standard bearer (not to mention Sarah Palin and on the flip side Joe Biden), major investment houses gone/merged, a $50 billion Ponzi scheme carried out by a former chairman of the Nasdaq Stock Market revealed, unprecedented federal intervention in the financial industry, auto industry, etc.), my guess is that appointing Roland Burris for U.S. Senator is among the last rabbits our soon-to-be former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich can pull out of his hat.
When sentencing comes, remorse isn’t likely to be much of a mitigating factor for Rod - whatever he may say.
