Forget about “straight-talk” when it comes to GOP Presidential nominee John McCain the standard is ‘don’t take his word for it, take ours’ according to the Republican National Committee (RNC), which is protesting the use of John McCain’s own words for a TV ad that describes John McCain’s objectionable policy position in Iraq.
Here’s the ad:

[OneMan provides a correction - it was the local GOP Party’s elephant, not Alan Keyes’ elephant.]
John Nichols reports about it here.
What I remember most of Alan Keyes’ 2004 GOP Senate bid against Barack Obama was that Keyes came to Naperville with a giant elephant float. The float got stuck within the first quarter mile […]
On Tuesday more than 27% of Pennsylvania GOP Primary voters cast a vote against their Republican Presidential nominee John McCain. Pennsylvanians are not alone in rejecting John McCain. Prior to everyone in the Republican presidential field dropping out, when McCain won, he often failed to win Republican majorities in the primaries and caucuses.

The short answer is “no” - and Media Matters, Matthew Yglesias and others have properly taken news anchor Charles Gibson to task for suggesting that $200,000 is a “middle-class” income. Atrios provides the first “injury” or “insult”:
“Remember back in junior high, when you had that friend that the bullies picked on all the time? And you defended that friend, who really never did all that much for you, which […]
This (really) may be the biggest positive press Bill Richardson has gotten since he ran for president. Without mapping out what Richardson may or may not gain from endorsing Barack Obama for president (who is pretty much the inevitable candidate) the higher profile alone might be meaningful to Richardson. Just a thought….
Just got back a little while ago from Milt Rosenberg’s show. It was a great learning experience with bloggers Richard Baehr from American Thinker, Dan Johnson-Weinberger from Progressive Advocacy and Devil’s Advocate from Copious Dissent. Thanks to Mitt for having me and thanks to my fellow bloggers for the discussion.
One of the […]
Republican John McCain since the 106th Congress (1999) has gotten scores varying from 6% to 56% in each congress for his votes from the League of Conservation Voters - until this past first session of the 110th Congress (2007). In 2007 John McCain got a zero. Worse, as the Sierra Club has also […]
